ANGELSPIT’s 8th album BANG OPERATIVE is influenced by the Synthwave sound of 1978-1981. Written and recorded in Los Angeles, the album is inspired by the city’s sprawling dystopia.

“BANG OPERATIVE is a head-on collision of Cyberpunk and Synthwave, using massive swirling synths, distorted drums and crushing guitars to create sonic clouds as thick as LA smog.”

The lyrics are dark and personal, commenting on stimulation-addiction, isolation, loneliness and the mayhem of modern life while balancing at the edge of sanity.

Several tracks feature dueling male/female vocals with English vocalist Cherry Bligh – who brings a new aggressive edge to ANGELSPIT’s sound.

OBERHEIM DMX DRUM MACHINE

Another glorious machine that shaped the 80’s! This one sounds more “Real”, however the sounds still react beautifully when tortures…ahh, those beautiful screams!

KORG KR-55 DRUM MACHINE

I must confess, I was not overly familiar with this machine – but it’s great fun and very usable. Dinky analog sounds similar to the CR78…but I actually like this one better!

EMU DRUMMULATOR DRUM MACHINE

All hail the King! Damn I love this machine!! I think Depeche Mode used it muchly on Construction Time Again (one of my all time favorite albums). It’s big, brash and all American….love it! 8bit 16k samples. I was offered to buy one once…I turned it down…I was a fool!

ROLAND CR78 DRUM MACHINE

Damn this is old school. I first fell in love with this one after seeing it used on LIQUID SKY’s “Me and my Rhythm Box”…I need to cover that song! The sounds are super dinky but they cut through the mix and distort and compress beautifully. I have never had the please of playing with one in the flesh.
