SONIC SEDUCER INTERVIEWS ANGELSPIT ABOUT “THE BASTARD GODS”

Germany’s Sonic Seducer talk to Zoog about Angelspit’s new album “THE BASTARD GODS

In the promotion around the album it is written everywhere that this is your most brutal work. Why is this description so important to you?

Angelspit always strives create something terrifying and beautiful. THE BASTARD GODS is new for Angelspit because the melodies came from samples of scraping and bashing large springs, metal sculptures and anything I could find. These sounds have intense harmonics which sound terrifying when sampled and distorted. This created something nasty and disturbingly beautiful – resulting in Angelspit’s most brutal album to date.
I have a collection of 80s samplers – EMAX I (I own 4), K2000, Emulator II, Emulator III and Emulator IV. These samplers are the most widely used in Industrial music – as I wanted the sound of 1987-1993, such a wonderful time for Industrial music! I have a big collection of guitar pedals – which were used to distort the samples. The music was created entirely with samplers, distortion pedal, outboard gear, my massive modular synth and analogue synths – no Softsynths or plugin-effects were used. I wanted to stay true to my Industrial roots.

“Who are we mad at today?” This question seems to resonate in a world overwhelmed by constant strife and scandal, the interconnectivity of social media creating numerous echo chambers that ultimately dissipate into oppressive walls of audiovisual noise. Since the band’s inception, Angelspit has been confronting this overstimulation head on, crafting an electrified industrial/punk sound that has remained singularly identifiable. While this eleventh album does little to deviate from those tenets, THE BASTARD GODS makes good on its promise of being the “most brutal” offering yet, due largely in part to a more streamlined incorporation of the particular elements of Dave Nato’s live drums and the Blaster Beam.

BRUTAL RESONANCE REVIEWS “THE IGNORANCE CATEL”

Fans of Angelspit and dirty electronic music alike are going to love the new album.
– BRUTAL RESONANCE

It is a dark humor conundrum to look at Angelspit’s latest album “The Ignorance Cartel” and compare it to the recent world events that surrounded its release. Though never intended to coincide with the Covid-19 outbreak (its progress was started twelve months before the pandemic hit) it’s hard to deviate the cyberpunk-rooted material, themes, and lyrics from all that’s been said about and during the infestation.

Confirms everything good we know about Angelspit through a well-assorted lineup, and that will undoubtedly not fail to cheer both fans of the project and those more accustomed to contamination and modernism in a cyberpunk key.

DARKEST GOTH MAGAZINE REVIEWS ‘THE IGNORANCE CARTEL’

Reverend Leviathan gives Angelspit’s new album 4.5/5.0

If 2020 had a soundtrack, The Ignorance Cartel would be it. Angelspit masterfully conveys all of the insanity and stupidity that we have seen this year surrounding politics and the pandemic, especially on social media.

One problem with social media is that you only see the finished product. Everyone shows photos and videos of their successes, but never the failures they had to overcome. This can make you feel like you are not good enough…and you become over critical.

REGEN REVIEWS BLACK DOG BITE

angelspit-bdb-0250Ilker Yücel from ReGen Magazine review’s Angelspit’s 2017 album “Black Dog Bite”
Vanity may be a God with teeth, but with this latest “Tough as F*ck” album blending acerbic melody with funky grooves and ‘90s cyberpunk acidity, Angelspit is out to prove that its teeth are indeed sharper.
