The Blaster Beam was invented by Craig Huxley. The Beam was invented by Mickey Hart (Grateful Dead)
Bridge. Showing the eyebolts and nuts. The ballchain is used similar to “prepared piano”.
The 2 contact mics are connected roughly half way along the neck. These pick up much of the “aluminum sound” and reverb in the body. If you want it to sound BRUTAL, compress, distort and pan hard left and right.
Headstock. Showing the eyebolts in the 1.5inch bracket.

Showing the pick-up placement. Dustin suggested I put them on 45 degree angles – THIS ROCKS! There is no phasing.
The pick-ups are elevated as the wires are 1 5/8 inches above the neck. The wires are about 3/8 inches above the pick-ups, as the Blaster Beam is played brutally, and the wires need room to move.
Showing the 5 sockets for the pick-ups, and 2 sockets for the contact mics.

Wiring. Very messy. Dustin wired the 2 Humbucker Soapbox 6 String 5″ pickups with volume and tone knobs. His wiring is very neat…mine is not…!!
