REGEN MAGAZINE GIVES CULT OF FAKE 4.5 STARS

angelspit-cof-0500Regen Magazine’s Ilker Yücel gives CULT OF FAKE 4.5 Stars

With a greater emphasis on melodic hooks and dance beats, Angelspit continues to forge its own path, sounding like no other band, and managing to infuse a little fun along the way.
–  Ilker Yücel, ReGen Magazine

10 years since the band’s full-length debut, Krankhaus, and Angelspit is still cranking out that signature blend of crunchy electronics with an uncompromising in-your-face attitude against banality and societal norms. For this sixth album, Zoog Von Rock called upon the fans for what turned out to be a strikingly successful Kickstarter campaign, and given the lyrical content of Cult of Fake, inspired by numerous political conversations held with fans and drawing on their opinions of the world, it’s perhaps the most fan-centric record Angelspit has yet produced. As well, though the previous album featured numerous collaborations, Cult of Fake is predominantly driven by Von Rock’s singular musical vision, incorporating samples and effects originally utilized on the band’s earlier recordings, ensuring that even after 10 years and six albums, Angelspit retains its unique identity.

Angelspit Signs with Negative Gain for new album

NGPLogo_New-500Angelspit has signed with Negative Gain Productions at its headquarters in Chicago. The new deal adds Angelspit’s new album,  CULT OF FAKE , to Negative Gain’s already strong roster of bands, including The Gothsicles and Mr. Kitty.

Made popular for its driving industrial sound, Angelspit sees the new partnership as a perfect match. “Negative Gain pushes dance acts with an alternative edge, and our new album will fit right in,” says Zoog Von Rock. Already funded by Kickstarter, the album will receive the widespread push it needs thanks to Negative Gain.

“We are always looking at new ways to add great music to our already diverse roster of great artists,” added Roger Jarvis, co-founder of Negative Gain. “You are going to love this album just as much as we do!”

Cult of Fake is Angelspit’s sixth studio album, due June 6, 2016 through Negative Gain. The album uses the harsh industrial percussion sampled from Angelspit’s early albums, now mixed with club destroying beats. Kickstarted by the fans, Cult of Fake is Angelspit’s first album to focus on dance music without sacrificing its established sound.

ANGELSPIT CROWDFUNDS ALBUM IN 24 HOURS!

Fans of Angelspit successfully crowdfunded the band’s newest album CULT OF FAKE in 24 hours. Now Angelspit sets its sights on a US tour.
CULT OF FAKE is Angelspit’s 6th studio album, set to release on June 6, 2016 – the ten year anniversary of Angelspit’s first full length album, KRANKHAUS.
EBM/EDM club-destroying beats smash against Angelspit’s harsh industrial sound on the new 12-track album, crafting a vicious new thumping hybrid, making CULT OF FAKE Angelspit’s first album to focus on dance music.
“I’m always pushing Angelspit’s sound to make something more brutal with a punk rock mentality. This time I’ve made CULT OF FAKE with dance music in mind. I’ve applied dance music production to Angelspit’s sound and I believe this is Angelspit’s best album to date – it’s got a harsh industrial skeleton with a smooth skin graft…this will DESTROY!”
– Zoog Von Rock, Angelspit.
With its Kickstarter goal locked, Angelspit’s next stretch goal is a USA tour.
“It was awesome to make contact with so many supporters during last year’s tour. We have some pretty cool plans this year and the success of the crowd funding will help make them happen. Top of the list is touring the USA.”

Cult Of Fake – Angelspit’s New Album

avitar_angelspit_cof-02CULT OF FAKE is our 6th studio album. It’s due June 6, 2016 – the ten year anniversary of the release our first full length album, KRANKHAUS.

Musically, CULT OF FAKE uses many of the original sounds from Nurse Grenade, Krankhaus and Blood Death Ivory – the harsh clangs and slams sampled in those early days. This time we’ve done something different – we’ve mixed brutal sonic mayhem with club destroying beats. CULT OF FAKE is our first dance album…and it SLAMS!

The lyrics are political – inspired by conversations with you after shows, at clubs or online. Your input has shaped CULT OF FAKE!

CULT OF FAKE is released on June 6th, 2016. Pre-sales are available NOW…see what you can get:

GEAR REVIEW: .COM FREQUENCY DIVIDER by STG SOUNDLABS

com_stg_reviewThis Frequency Divider outputs +/-5volt signals 1 and 2 octaves below the input frequency – similar to a Roland SH-101.
It has an adjustable Pulse Width which is output at the original frequency, -1 octave and -2 octave.
Since all outputs are +/-5volt it can be used to drive CV inputs.
It also mangles regular audio which is effected by the adjustable Pulse Width – AND outputs the mangled audio as +/-5volt…so you can use this to inject some mayhem into your modular’s CV inputs – this thing ROCKS!

This sturdy and compact mixer is great for audio and CV. It’s clean, yet can be driven to distortion easily is desired. It’s bipolar output makes it great for using with Control Voltages.

Writing bass, lyrics and being original

Lolita from our Forum asked me this question:

http://krankhaus.net/forum/index.php?topic=11171.0

Um, basically, how do you keep your songs sounding original? Even if you listen to diverse range of music, how do you keep your songs sounding like your own?
Like, whenever I try to write a song I’ll come up with a cool bass line(because the bass is my main instrument), then stop and realize, ‘oh damn, that sounds just like that Marilyn Manson song or that Emilie Autumn song.’ And I’ll try re-arranging it, but I’m always afraid that I’ll write something great then realize too late that it sounds just like another song. Or I’ll not realize it at all and publish the song, then later get a bunch of people accusing me of copying a part of someone’s song.

Roland SH-101

Roland SH-101 (Wall Mounted, Bad Paint Job)

Brand: Roland
Model: SH-101
Link: http://www.vintagesynth.com/roland/sh101.shtml

BLURB:
This is my oldest synth!!! It was the second synth I purchased.
The custom paint job was allegedly done by FRANKIE KNUCKLES (!!!) during the early 90s at a bush rave (Doof) near Byron Bay – back in the day when “Raves” and glow sticks were cool. This horrible paint job also acts as insurance…no-one wants to steal it.
