BLURB:
The guy who designed this really thinks “outside the box”. You can create standard (yet distinctive) bandpass filter sounds, or you can seriously and brutally mash the sound. The resonator does something scathing to the audio…it does not distort it, it HURTS it!
This is a double bandpass filter (2 Bandpass Filters working in Parallel approx 1 octave apart), so it sounds different to a Low Pass Filter (most filters are Low Pass). At it’s core is a valve…and you can really hear it’s influence on the sound.
I try not to over use it, as it’s sound is very distinctive. I bought it after we release Krankhaus, so it did not make it onto the album. It featured in the “A La Mode, A La Mort” remix we did for Surgically Atoner Remix Disc (it’s the bit that sounds like a weird human voice).
It did not make it onto Blood Death Ivory because it was too heavy to include in the modular shipment – it’s weight pushed the total weight of our modular over 20Kg…which would have been too heavy to ship.
The TM-2 does feature on our new album. It kills bass, tortures drums, terrorises bleeps…but OH.MY.GOD you should see what it does to guitars…!
PROS:
Very distinctive sound – nothing else in the studio sounds like it. It also has a built in VCA, which in it’s own way adds BALLS.
CONS:
Frequency modulating it does not make a big difference to the sound. When the Resonance is turned up, the sound only sweeps through varying degrees of “absolutely f*cked up”.
Apparently they are discontinued…which really sucks because they ROCK!
HINT:
To get a more versatile sound, don’t have all the settings set to 10. You need to give it room to breathe…the TM-2 can whisper as offensively as it can scream.
